Strafvollzug.

General, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade and yellow cap cord, gray piping, gray band, and yes the cloth backing seems to be the same colour/color backing as used on the Zoll/customs generals hat. I am told that this is the correct backing for the time this hat was made, and that a gray backing was used at a later period. If this is true or not is the question. Zoller's book shows it with the gray backing (page 80, abb. 40c) but does not provide the date of the hat shown. Two grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 57 and dated "G" (1981). Black band. (Visor type S3117/3i, o-r). VEB 1856.

Lieutenant to Colonel, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade and silver cap cord, gray piping. Two black grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 59 and dated "N" (1989). Black band. (Visor type S3117/1i, i-l). VEB 1856.



Patrolman to senior Sergeant, single piece cockade and gray cap cord, gray piping. Two grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 57 and dated "D" (1990). Black band. (Visor type " S3117/3II ").  VEB 1856.
Patrolman to senior Sergeant, two piece cockade and gray cap cord, gray piping. Two grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 56 and dated "P" (1986). Brown band. (Visor type "S3117/3II").  VEB 1856.

Female side cap. Gabardine fabric, embroidered and metal cockade, gray piping, size 56, dated 1968. VEB 1856.

Transportpolizei.


General, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade and yellow cap cord, light blue piping, blue band, two grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 59 and dated "L" (1987). Black band. (Visor type S3117/1i, i-l). VEB 1856.


Lieutenant to Colonel, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade and silver cap cord, light blue piping, two grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 55 and dated "L" (1987). Black band. (Visor type S3117/1i, i-l). VEB 1856. Yellow ink "Made in Germany" import stamp on inside lining.



Patrolman to Senior Sergeant, one piece cockade, braided blue cap cord, blue piping. Two black Grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 55 and dated "D" (1990). Black band. (Visor type S3117/3i, o-r). VEB 1856.


Female side cap. Gabardine fabric, embroidered and metal cockade, blue piping, size 53, dated "L" (1987). VEB 1855. "MDI 1855 L 53" stamped in large yellow ink.

Multi-Agency. (Trapo, Wasserschutz, Hafenpolizei.)



Female side cap. Gabardine fabric, embroidered and metal cockade, no piping, size 52, dated "Y" (1988).VEB 1856. 




Side cap. Gabardine fabric, circular textile cockade, no piping. Size 58 and dated "A" (1977). VEB 1856.

Officer, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade and silver cap cord, blue piping, two  Grommets/vent holes on each side of crown. Size 57 and dated "Y" (1988). Black band. (Visor type 3117/1i, i-l). VEB 1856. yellow ink "Made in Germany" import stamp on inside lining.


Officer, gabardine fabric, two piece cockade and silver capcord, no piping, two vent holes on each side of crown. A two piece hat (same construction as the water protection police hat shown below) with removable top. Size 57 and dated "Y" (1988). Black band. (Visor type "Perfekt XX"). VEB 1856.

MdI marked Winter hat or "shapka", imitation fur and gabardine fabric top, two piece cockade. Size 54 and dated "G" (1981). VEB 1856. 


Wassershutzpolizei.



Patrolman to Sergeant, gabardine fabric, single piece cockade, green cap cord, no piping. A two piece hat with removable top. Size 55 (mislabelled 59) and dated "E" (1980). VEB 1856. Black band. (Visor type "Perfekt XX"). "Made in Germany" import sticker on sweat sheild.
