Helmets from  Austria, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain.

Austria

DIN 14940 Fire helmet from the Austrian State of Styria. Dates from about 1970. Similar to, but much lighter than the aluminum German M34,  with four liner pins and two rivets holding the chinstrap bails. The Styria state crest is attached through two holes on the front of the helmet. Interestingly on the liner is written '16 maschinist'.

Czechoslovakia
WWII German M40. Manufactured by Quist, marked Q64 DN447. Used post war in Czechoslovakia as a fire helmet. The helmet was striped of its original paint, two holes drilled in front for the placement of a badge, painted black and a new liner added.

Denmark
WWII German M40. Manufactured by Emaillierwerke A.G., marked EF62 batch # 100787. Post war, this helmet was Modified twice. First modified for use as a fire helmet. Five holes were drilled for the attachment of a small crest on top. At a later date the helmet was striped, the holes welded shut, repainted and a new liner added for use as a Danish Civil Defense/Civilforsvaret helmet.

Hungary
Hungarian M38. Manufactured by 'GY' Magyar Waggon és Gépgyár. The shell is marked with 'Gy66' on the inner left side and a small Hungarian coat of arms on the back skirt. It started out as a Hungarian civil defence fireman's 'B' type helmet in its original 'bottleblue' color. The 'A' type civil helmets lack the crest on the top. Some time postwar it was refited with a new liner and painted silver. A hint of the original blue is visible around the edge of the liner in the bottom photo.

Ireland
Irish Free State M27 helmet. Manufactured in 1927 by the British company Vickers Ltd. Only 10,021 helmets were produced.   The helmet was used by the Irish Free State army from 1927 to 1939 untill the introduction of the British MKII Tommy helmet. At the onset of WW2 the helmets were painted white for use by civil defense. At some later date this helmet was painted black. The markings on the helmet are "V. Ltd" for Vickers Ltd,  and "H4612/27" serial number and year of production.  Each individual helmets position in the production run is shown by the serial number. This is the 4'612th one made out of the total of 10,021 helmets produced.

Norway
WWII German M42. Manufactured by Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke, marked NS64 batch #D290. The Norwegian repainted the shell and dyed the liners leather red. New brass liner pins replaced the original German ones. Some how over time this helmet has lost the Norwegian army decals, a faint out line of them can be seen.
